the Bear SG it was hilarious wasn't it? i guess some people are right when they say that i cannot be trusted to give a proper review to a movie that being said, the most romantic movies to me remain Casablanca, True Romance and Lost in Translation... where romance is not just the boy/girl type lurvefest
av98m SG I love watching romantic comedies. I usually watch them alone because got no girls to watch with and its very gay watching those with guys And no, I do not have sophisticated tastes when it comes to movies. I even enjoy those slammed by critics. Some favourites I can recall: the truth about cats and dogs 4 weddings and a funeral you've got mail just like heaven
the Bear SG @*&$ trying to find the bloody Town Councils is insane.. we had a list but they have been rendered useless after the elections.. after the gerrymandering, all have changed
elindra SG I love Casablanca and Gone with the Wind so much Not watched True Romance and Lost in Translation though
av98m SG On the subject of movies, my fave harrison ford movie is not star wars, not the indiana jones series, nor the tom clancy series, not the fugitive. It is this very heart warming movie that few remember he ever did. Regarding Henry. any of you caught this one?
av98m SG Harrison Ford plays a very sucessful and ruthless lawyer who gets shot in the head during a botched mugging, and as a result has to undergo intensive therapy and re-learn most of his motor skills. Somehow, he re-discovers his conscience, the truly important things in life and rebuilds his relationships with his loved ones. In the process he becomes the man that his wife fell in love with and his daughter discovers for the very first time that she has a loving father. Even his old housekeeper tells him that he's so much nicer after getting shot in the head! I know this sounds like a really boring movie, you'll have to watch it to appreciate it.
the Bear SG True Romance is a romantic story with a lot of insane violence, maniacs, cops, a psychotic white rastafarian drug dealer (played to perfection by Gary Oldman) but in there, is a tender love story of a shy guy who falls for a prostitute and sets about to help her get away from her past.. Tarantino wrote this so, hey.. expect the mess but it's a really tender tale between the both of them Lost in Translation is a tour-de-force of a movie which i would say that no one else but Bill Murray could do.. his deadpan face which says more than mere words.. finding a kindred soul in a faraway place like Japan... where the romance was in their platonic friendship as for Regarding Henry.. uhh... some bits.. amnesia and all that.. rediscovering himself and how low he was before being shot... maybe i'm jaded in terms of movies..
av98m SG It made me cry, and I tell you there are very few movies that can do that Another nice movie is the adaption of the novel To Kill a Mockingbird (this one is in black and white)
the Bear SG that one was with Gregory Peck... but to those who have not watched True Romance, seriously, go get it... get the uncut version because of the Tarantino script, the language is crude but almost every line is memorable
elindra SG The thought of AV crying while watching a movie kinda freaks me out >< Then again, guys freak me out if they cry
the Bear SG after a performance like that, they'd be asswipes if they didn't give it to him... btw, the asswipes gave Forrest Gump the Best Pic instead of Pulp Fiction and more atrocities with that 3 1/2 hour bilge winning a pile of them
av98m SG The one movie that made me laugh really really hard was when all the people were dying in Titanic
the Bear SG still can't get over that 3 1/2 hour bilge winning "best pic" in that year, they had damned good movies like Wag the Dog, Ice Storm and The Full Monty they gave it to that piece of crass crap
